Yesterday, Minister of Defence, Hon. Ambrose Lufuma, officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony for a fully fledged secondary school and teachers’ houses at ZNS Safari Secondary School Grounds, Lusaka West, Kasupe Ward.

The school will be constructed at a cost of K35 million, funded by United Capital Fertilizer Zambia Company Limited, a subsidiary of the Wonderful Group of Companies.

Zambia National Service (ZNS) has partnered in the project by providing land for development.

Hon. Lufuma described the event as symbolising hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for the children of Chilanga and generations to come.

The Minister praised the Wonderful Group of Companies for their strong corporate social responsibility and commitment to national welfare.

ZNS Commander, Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi, said the project supports government policy, placing education at the heart of national transformation.

He added that such initiatives align with ZNS’s tradition of developing education facilities for both military and civilian communities.

Chilanga MP, Honourable Sipho Hlazo, highlighted that Chilanga’s growing population has increased the demand for educational facilities.

The MP said the school’s construction followed his proposal to the Wonderful Group to invest in a community-benefiting secondary school.

He emphasised that education is the greatest gift for children and that Chilanga has made record-breaking progress in education over the past four years through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
