MISSION STATEMENT
“Chilanga Town Council is a local authority that seeks to provide high-quality municipal services and government support for the prosperity, security, and well-being of all people living, visiting, and conducting business in the town of Chilanga.”

Chilanga District is located in Lusaka Province in the Republic of Zambia. It shares boundaries with Lusaka District to the East, Kafue District to the South, Shibuyunji District to the West, and Chibombo District to the North. The district covers an estimated area of 1,352.86 square kilometres.
Chilanga was officially declared a district in 2012 through Statutory Instrument (SI) No. 41 of 2012 under the District Boundaries Act, Cap 286 of the Laws of Zambia. The district comprises one (1) constituency and twelve (12) wards. It operates under a dual administrative structure, with the Council Chairperson presiding over the Local Authority while the District Commissioner represents and oversees Central Government functions at the district level.The administrative centre of Chilanga District is strategically located approximately 17.3 kilometres south of the Lusaka Central Business District. This close proximity to the capital city provides the district with significant advantages, including easy access to major socio-economic services, markets, transport networks, and investment opportunities.
Beyond its administrative and strategic importance, Chilanga District is also a hub of recreation and industrial development. It is home to renowned leisure facilities such as the Mundawanga Botanical Gardens, a serene and well-maintained recreational centre offering a peaceful environment for relaxation, learning, and family outings. Another popular destination is Tiffany’s Canyon, a scenic recreational facility known for its tranquil atmosphere, ideal for picnics, nature walks, and leisure activities.
The district also hosts key industrial establishments, notably the Chilanga Cement Plant and the large-scale Urea Manufacturing Plant operated by United Capital Fertilizer Zambia Company. These facilities play a vital role in employment creation, industrial growth, and the enhancement of agricultural productivity, contributing significantly to both the local and national economy.
With its strategic location, growing industrial base, recreational attractions, and proximity to Lusaka, Chilanga District presents itself as an ideal destination for investment, tourism, residence, and sustainable development.
